Salman Rushdie was stabbed on stage, now on ventilator
75-year-old renowned Author, Salman Rushdie was stabbed in the
neck by Hadi Matar (24) from Fairview, when he was on the stage
at the Chautauqua Institution's event at approx 10:47 am on
Friday 12 Aug.
Chautauqua Institution is a not-for-profit community on Chautauqua Lake in southwestern New York State.
Author Salman Rushdie was on a ventilator, will likely lose one eye
and his liver was "stabbed and damaged" after this attack.
Salman Rushdie is the author of
the controversial novel
"The Satanic Verses".
He also faced death threats from Islamic extremists, for years after writing this novel.
his agent Andrew Wylie said that the "news is not good" and added,
"the Mumbai-born controversial author was on a ventilator and could not speak".
