A convicted killer, Danelo Cavalcante, who escaped from an eastern Pennsylvania prison almost two weeks ago, was spotted again and is now armed, according to police.

The latest sighting occurred in Chester County’s South Coventry Township, about 20 miles north of the prison he escaped from.

An emergency alert was sent to residents urging them to lock doors and windows, secure vehicles, and stay indoors due to the reported sighting of Cavalcante, possibly armed with a weapon.

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that Cavalcante is armed with a weapon but did not specify the type.

During the Monday night sighting, a gun was stolen, and there were reports of shots fired. The stolen weapon was identified as a .22 caliber rifle.

The search for Cavalcante has entered its 13th day, causing school closures and significant police activity in the area.

Cavalcante had escaped by climbing onto the prison roof, traversing razor wire, and scaling fences on August 31.

Prior to Monday's sighting, Cavalcante had been reported to change his appearance, steal a van, and visit homes of acquaintances.

Despite numerous sightings, Cavalcante had managed to evade capture, possibly due to the challenging terrain and large search area.

Cavalcante had been convicted of first-degree murder for the killing of his former girlfriend, Deborah Brandão, and is also wanted in connection with a 2017 homicide case in Brazil, his native country.
